Many seniors prefer to live in their comfortable, familiar home as they age. With this can come many physical challenges of moving around the house safely and efficiently.
In order to maintain their quality of life without moving into an assisted living facility or retirement community, there are a few renovations and upgrades we would recommend to support aging in place.
BATHROOM GRAB BARS AND ACCESSIBILITY
Placing grab bars in bathrooms can help to prevent falls due to slippery floors, tubs, and shower stalls. They can be found in home improvement stores and done yourself, or can be installed professionally.
Additionally, to avoid the risk of falls, install a walk-in tub or curbless shower. These options can include multiple safety features including non-slip flooring, handrails, and anti-scald valves. You can also add a foldable shower seat, allowing for rest when needed.
WIDEN DOORWAYS
Most home interior doorways are narrower than 32”, this can be expanded in order to accommodate a wheelchair or other mobility device. This process may entail a contractor replacing an already existing frame, adding in insulation, drywall, and paint, as well as rewiring light switches.
LEVER-STYLE DOOR KNOBS
Round door knobs can be difficult to tightly grip and the twisting motion required to use them can be hard for those with arthritis or other motion limiting conditions. Lever-style handles can be easier to grip, function simply by using the weight of your hand, and are an inexpensive do-it-yourself job – or can be done using handyman services.
SLIP-RESISTANT FLOORING
Linoleum and vinyl flooring can provide more traction than a hard stone floor. The softer material can also be a bit more forgiving in the instance that someone may fall. Bamboo and cork are also popular options that offer traction. High-pile carpeting increases the risk of tripping and makes the movement for those using a walker or cane more difficult. Replacing it with a low-pile option makes rooms more accessible.
If you do not have the budget or the time to replace flooring, it is important to repair any damaged areas of existing flooring including uneven tiles to eliminate trip-and-fall hazards.
ADJUST COUNTERTOPS
Regular kitchen countertops are about 34” high off the floor. Adjusting and installing these to a 30” counter can make them more accessible for those using a scooter or a wheelchair to prepare food or do other tasks.
This can also be a great opportunity to evaluate storage and shelving. It should never cause a strain to use or put away common items used daily. Utilize lazy Susans to stay organized, additional racks for cookware so you don’t have to stack and unstack them, and wall hooks along with slide out shelving that make items easy to reach. Adding recessed lighting will also brighten the workspace and improve the living space.
It may also be beneficial to remove cabinets or install a removable cabinet under the kitchen sink to accommodate those either in wheelchairs or who may need to sit more frequently but still need to work at the sink.
WHEELCHAIR RAMPS AND CHAIR LIFTS
A wheelchair ramp makes the home more accessible to all – even if there is no immediate need for a chair, the ramp makes it easier to get into and out of the home by taking away the climbing and descending of stairs.
In homes with more than one level, a chair lift that attaches to the stairs can help homeowners move between floors without the fear of falling. If you are unable to install a stair lift into your home, keep regular staircases safe by adding bright lighting, solid hand railings on both sides of the steps, and anti-slip strips on the edges of each stair.
With 90% of seniors wanting to live at home for as long as possible, these updates can make aging in place more possible with accessible solutions to keep you and your family safe and independent.

If you are looking to sell your home in the near future, you might be thinking about ways to raise the house’s value, allowing you to increase your asking price. Or maybe you are simply looking for ways to enjoy your home more without a total renovation. There are many updates and home projects that are easy and inexpensive to take on to increase the appeal of your home.
KITCHEN UPDATES
The kitchen is often the heart of the home. Families gather here to cook, eat, and share time together. Since people spend so much time here, many homebuyers are looking for modern feeling kitchens. A remodel or simple update to an old kitchen can see a big pay off.
Small replacements like a new faucet, cabinet hardware, or light fixtures can improve the overall look to the space. Backsplash tile is also a smaller ticket item than can easily be installed and make the kitchen feel like a completely different room.
Resurfacing instead of replacing worn or beaten down cabinets can also add market value without breaking the bank. You can also paint cabinetry to give the space a fresh look. Our tip is to opt for lighter upper cabinets and darker lower to fit trending styles.
Appliances can also make a difference. Consider switching older appliances with new energy-efficient versions. These will help the environment and energy costs while giving an updated look to the kitchen. To give the room a more cohesive look, make sure to purchase appliances with matching doors and face panels.
SPRUCE UP THE BATHROOM
The bathroom is another space where you don’t have to go overboard to add true value. There is no need to have to stress about touching the plumbing in order to make a big difference. Brighten the room with some fresh paint, re-grout and reglaze the bathtub, and install some new fixtures and a mirror for an easy transformation.
The bathroom is one of the top areas that potential home buyers care about, and in turn is a place where you can add the most value. So make sure not to forget even the small updates here as you are looking to boost value and style.
ANY AND EVERY ROOM
For any and every room, our best recommendation for a quick facelift is to update any outdated or old fixtures, hardware, or lights. This also goes for any dated wallpaper or paint. Adding a fresh coat of paint in a neutral color is a simple and cost-effective way to add additional appeal. Depending on the current condition of your flooring, an update could also be beneficial to raising value. Switch the carpeting and rugs, or completely take out the old, worn carpet and replace it with hardwood or laminate flooring which are durable and can be fairly simple to install.
If you are willing and interested in taking on a bigger project, opening up a living space by knocking down a wall between the kitchen and dining room or living room can create an airy, modern environment. Many people are looking for this open concept due to an increased amount of time spent working, studying, entertaining, and eating at home.
Trendy finishes should also be thought about when making any home updates if you are choosing to sell soon. Stainless steel appliances in the kitchen can increase more demand than other finishes that people may have less interest in. This same concept applies with choosing a brushed nickel material for door knobs over brass and switching out yellow incandescent light bulbs for LED lights.
ATTIC OR BASEMENT SPACE
Homebuyers are drawn to more versatile rooms. If you are able to finish and renovate an attic or basement into a workout area, office, or family room it will add square footage onto your home’s blueprint as well as appeal to potential buyers who will be able to envision how they can personalize the space. If it is possible to build a bedroom in an unfinished basement, the addition of another bedroom will also boost value and selling price in the future.
If you are unable to create a living space, adding insulation to your attic is a great way to add value, and you will often recoup the entire cost it took to fill. Plus, while you are still living in the house you will see the benefits of saving money on energy costs!
ENERGY EFFICIENCY
While we are talking about energy costs, sealing cracks around doors and windows can also prevent energy loss. Installing Energy Star rated windows and getting rid of single pane, drafty options will help save on heating and cooling costs. During a home inspection, a lack of insulation as well as drafty windows and doors will be noted, so even if updating these items didn’t add a great amount of value, replacing them ensures the value does not decrease. Plus, new windows can make your home quieter and more visually appealing.
Upgrading to energy-efficient appliances like a furnace or a microwave can also lower the cost of electricity and gas bills.
Additionally, smart thermostats can save you money on your utility bill each month you live in the home by improving efficiency. Thermostats are not the only smart devices people are starting to expect in homes. Keypad door locks, fire detectors, security cameras, and lighting enhancements are also currently trending and make your life easier.
OUTDOOR SPACE
Decks are a great investment since they increase living area while costing less to build per square foot. This is also a great versatile space that appeals to everyone by creating an outdoor seating and entertainment area. Learn more about creating a deck and the perks of hiring a contractor in our past blog here.
The importance of a first impression fits for homebuyers as well. Make sure the exterior siding of your house is washed and any worn spots are touched up. Structural elements of a home are looked at by appraisers when selling, so replacing old siding can also help in increasing value.
Installing a new garage and front door will also make your home look more welcoming. We recommend a steel front door due to their benefits of being energy efficient, low maintenance, and block the cold in this environment.
Although a larger project, fixing roof problems or replacing it when needed is important both for you and for a potential homebuyer. An old or faulty roof can lower the value of a house, so making sure it is in tip top shape is really just a good home investment.
Also make sure shrubs, trees, and bushes are trimmed, pruned and surrounded with mulch to create a more finished look. Flowerbeds and pots are a great way to add some bright color and positivity. Get rid of years of dirt by power washing the driveway and sidewalks. Adding a new walkway and exterior lighting can also help with the curb appeal of your home.
When it comes to adding more value to your house, it is highly important to focus on smaller projects that are proven to make your home feel more updated, comfortable, and energy efficient.

When planning on new home updates or remodels, it can be tempting to take on the project yourself, and in some cases DIY projects are perfect! However, many homeowners start a remodel themselves without knowing how much time, skill, or cost will end up going into it and regret the decision not to hire a professional. Here are some things to think about before knocking down that wall or replacing those windows yourself.
First, some projects require a special permit or a license, for these it is best to check into a professional. This is often true for plumbing, electrical, and gas related projects. Homeowners insurance may not cover damage if a project goes wrong, while professional contractors will carry the proper insurance including general liability and worker’s compensation.
When doing home improvements yourself, you also won’t get any kind of warranty. A contractor provides a warranty, so if something on the job is not up to par, you are protected and the responsibility lies with the contractor, resulting in your investment not gone. These first two points will take the risk off of you.
Professionals perfect their craft daily, continually improving their quality of work. This can prevent mistakes and ensure a job is beautifully done. If you are inexperienced and make a mistake during installations – it can result in more costly repairs.
Window framing and installation have so many ins and outs that it may be beneficial to turn to the pros that are experts and understand how to do the job correctly and efficiently. Flooring can also present issues if working around corners, doorways, and baseboards. Additionally, structural upgrades and repairs may demand the expertise of a contractor, engineer, or architect. The cost of not doing it right the first time can be significant.
Remember, you may find surprises along the way that affect workflow, timeline, and budget. Professionals anticipate problems and have experience in managing any issues. A small oversight can lead to larger problems down the line. Knowing what problems could arise and addressing them right away can save you money and headaches later on.
Safety is of greatest importance during projects, if any aspect of the job could hurt you or destroy a part of your home, it is best to search for a contractor. Always opt for caution over cost.
Another aspect to think about is materials and costs. A contractor has quality materials and equipment already, so you can skip investing in those tools. Contractors also know the best tools for any job.
With products and materials constantly developing and changing within the construction industry, professionals also stay current and know the trends and best options.
Finally, time is something you can never get back. How much is your time worth? It can become a struggle to juggle a home project with all the other things going on in your life. Keeping your free time is important, and by hiring a contractor the job is more likely to get done quickly.
In any home update, it is important to make sure the investment of your home retains or even enhances its value. Hiring a professional ensures that your remodel results in the new functional space you are dreaming of, as well as the opportunity to raise your house’s value.

DREAMING OF A HOUSE EXPANSION BUT DON’T HAVE THE TIME, MONEY, OR RESOURCES? WISHING FOR A DESIGNATED ROOM OR CORNER TO USE AS OFFICE SPACE, EXERCISE DEN, OR MEDITATION AREA? MAYBE YOU HAVE AWKWARD SPACE IN YOUR HOUSE THAT IS EITHER UNFINISHED, UNUSED OR BEING USED INEFFICIENTLY?
Over the course of the past year, people have been spending more and more time in their houses. Whether they are working from home, teaching their kids, or just trying to relax, everyone is feeling the need for updated and rejuvenated spaces. Or maybe the normalcy of working from home has grown on you and it is becoming a permanent option? We have some tips for creating the useable spaces you need, with areas of your home already available!
Have a spare room that seems to just be a “catch all’ for your clutter, paper work, and items you are not ready to give away? This could be a great place to get some piece and quiet and be away from the center of the house where the hustle and bustle of the day is. Set up a home office, study, or exercise room. Having a separate room for these parts of your life also contributes to higher productivity and less opportunity for distractions.
When designing a home office, learning space, or workout area, do so in a way that allows you to concentrate best. If working on an office, include a home library if reading inspires you. For any type of working space, painting it a calming color like blue, an energizing yellow hue, or an orange that sparks creativity can allow your mind to reach it’s fullest potential.
Don’t want to give up a potential guest bedroom? It is easy enough to combine the two, keeping a desk or exercise machine/weights on one side and a bed with small dresser on the other. This allows you to maximize the space in your home.
The best ways to make this room combo work? ORGANIZE. Label compartments for different documents or other paper work, and make sure to throw away any unneeded papers when you can (or even better, if it is a feasible option – go paperless!). Also, consider upgrading your multiple office machines into one. The faxing, printing, and copying machine? Buy an option that combines all these tasks in one machine! These tips will keep the room free from clutter and easier to use in whatever function you choose.
We suggest sticking to spare or guest rooms when combining with a home office instead of your personal bedroom. Working from your bedroom can make it difficult to stop thinking about work when it is time to relax. Your laptop might call to you when you are supposed to be “out of the office” and will lead to a less than optimal work/life balance.
Don’t have a room to spare in your house? Living rooms can also be a great choice to double into a home office.
Have a spacious living area and an open floor plan? This room concept makes it easier to place a desk behind the sofa. Add a lamp and a swivel chair, and you are ready to clock in for the day.
Have an alternative nook or cranny in your living area that is currently dead space? Place a small desk there, with some art or a plant to create a subtle workspace that fits in with the rest of your décor and aesthetic. Looking for somewhere with a bit more privacy and quiet? Add a room divider, bookshelf, or a curtain to divide a room and maintain some “office hours”.
Have an oversized hallway leading from one room to another? Place a desk in the extra space. You can even decorate it to look like a console table when not in use with a mirror, some flowers, or candles.
Unfinished space within your home, for example an area in your basement or a useable attic, can also be remodeled or updated into a work space without having to put too much time, effort, or money into the project.
Wall shelving can be a helpful tool in any space you are trying to convert into a working space. They don’t require a lot of room and are easy to install. Used to hold important papers or decorative photos, they are good for either occupational purposes or when you want to disguise an office setup.
Lighting is also a crucial piece of ensuring your workspace is usable and effective. It is beneficial to have both good natural and good artificial light sources in order to work effectively. Natural light can help save on energy bills, improve mood, and decrease fatigue. When natural light is not an option or you need a little extra illumination, it is good to have some bright overhead lighting as well as desk lamps to help you see small type up close.
With just these few tips you can create the spaces you long for with the room you already have. Have additional questions regarding how to optimize your space or need a little help with painting, shelf installation, handyman or remodeling tasks? Let us know how we can help!
After seeing a few “fake springs”, we do believe that spring is, in fact, here! While Northern Minnesotans are beginning to enjoy the warmer weather and presence of the sun – with the start of consistent warm temps, your home may be experiencing some issues.
During this season, it is important to evaluate your home for any signs of damage or wear and tear from the winter season and thawing. The maintenance and upkeep now will be easier and cheaper than repairs down the line. In the past, we posted our winter housekeeping checklist, below is our list for the upcoming spring season.
CLOGGED GUTTERS
Gutters can fill with falling flowers, twigs, leaves, and animals that choose to build their nests there. When gutters or downspouts clog, water often pools on the roof or reroutes to flow down your house’s siding, which can cause damage to siding, interior, and exterior walls. Inspect and clean gutters regularly to stop draining issues.
SLOW DRAINAGE
Once the snow melts, the ground can be so waterlogged that it cannot absorb any more rain or melting. Still needing to drain somewhere, this moisture can leak into your basement and cause flooding. Making sure your sump pump is working well, or installing a new sump pump or French drains can be helpful in these situations.
If you experience water puddled by your house, you may need to look at your landscaping. Changing the slope to be away from the house can help with flooding issues.
A CRACKED CEILING
A crack in your ceiling from the attic is often linked to the colder weather from winter. If the crack is found somewhere else in your home, it could be linked to the house’s foundation or a dampness/mold problem. While sometimes a crack can just be caused by the property settling over time, sometimes there is a more serious issue happening. Call an expert if you are unsure about the cause of a crack.
PAINT
Exterior paint protects your siding and windows from water and rot – and also gives your home a nice, clean look. If there are signs of peeling or chipping, you may need a touch-up or a fresh coat.
LEAKING PIPES
Low water pressure, spiking water bills, puddles around your property, spots of water around fixtures, and unpleasant smells can all be signs of leaking pipes. Pipes may begin to leak due to contracting during the colder months while the water that runs through them expands, resulting in cracks. Your pipes, along with the new cracks, then expand once the weather warms up leading to leaks.
ROOF ISSUES
Heavy snowfall from the winter can cause problems for your roof. With the rainy days and additional melting that spring brings, if your roof has obtained any defects – you could have leaks. If there are stains on the walls or ceilings, this could be a good sign your roof is leaking.
Throughout winter, heavy snow collecting on your roof can affect the roof’s structural integrity causing some parts of the roof to sag. Once this snow melts, the water sits in these sections, soaking into the roof and leading to excessive moisture related issues within the attic.
Chimneys should also be inspected for cracks. Melted snow can run into these cracks, later freezing at during cooler temperatures at night and causing the bricks and mortar to expand resulting in leaks or a loose chimney. When you see signs of any issues, call a professional to inspect your roof and discuss repair options.
If you spot a problem around your home, never ignore it. Ignoring an issue that seems small can create a large problem down the road. If the problem is solved when small, it can often require less care, is easier to treat, and tends to cost less. If you are unable to take on any of the repairs, cleaning, or maintenance around your home for spring, our team at Litman Construction offers handyman services, and consultations.
Knowing what potential issues may arise, how to prevent them from happening in the first place, and how to take care of them/who to call to help when they do occur can take away a lot of stress of being a homeowner this spring.
With the pending cold weather and winter harshness upon us, now is the time to make sure your home is ready for what sometimes can be a difficult season. Below are key areas to review around your house to lessen the chance of damage or costly repairs, reduce heat loss, and improve energy savings.
WINDOWS, DOORS AND WALL PENETRATIONS:
- Seal up and caulk around windows and doors to seal air leaks
- Replace broken glass in windows
- Confirm all operable windows are sealed tight and locked
- Confirm all storm windows where applicable are closed and functioning appropriately
- Replace weather stripping on doors as needed
- Check that all penetrations leading in and out of the house walls are sealed
ROOF AND ROOF PENETRATIONS:
- Check over entire roof for exposed nails and loose shingles
- Check all roof flashing, chimney flashing, roof penetrations and caulk and seal as necessary
- If applicable check that your heat tape/ice melt cables are connected and working properly
- Clear and sweep leaves and debris off of roof and deck areas
GUTTERS/DOWNSPOUTS AND DRAINAGE:
- Clean debris from gutter systems and downspouts after the leaves have fallen
- Check that downspouts and tail extensions are forcing water away from the foundation of the home
It’s important to divert water away from the foundation of your home to protect your basement and the homes foundation
SUMP PUMP:
- Open the sump pump pit and pour water in if it is dry until the pump turns on – this tests that it is properly pumping the water to the exterior of the home
- Check the drain line on the sump pump at the exterior and confirm that the drain line is forcing water away from the home’s foundation
CHIMNEYS, WOOD BURNING FIREPLACES AND GAS FIREPLACES:
- Prior to heating season, it is a good idea to have your gas fireplace serviced
- If you have a wood burning chimney that is in use, have it inspected and cleaned as necessary
HEATING/ VENTILATION SYSTEM:
- Prior to heating season, it is a good idea to do a test run of your heating system to make sure everything is working and functioning properly – i.e. Thermostat is working appropriate, furnace/boiler ignites and provides heat
- Check/change out the thermostat batteries if it is a digital thermostat
- Forced air furnaces and air exchangers should have their filters changed/cleaned out at least yearly and be serviced to help the function of the furnace and the air quality in the home
- Check to ensure that nothing is blocking the intake and exhaust vents on heating and ventilation systems
SMOKE ALARMS AND CARBON MONOXIDE DETECTORS:
- Check the batteries and change out yearly
- Ensure that each level of the home has a Carbon Monoxide Detector especially near gas appliances
- Ensure that the units are less than 10 years old and replace if greater than 10 years old
- Test all individual detectors to ensure they are all working
HOSES AND HOSE BIBS:
- Disconnect all hoses where they are connected at the house
- If the fixture is not a ‘frost-free/frostless’ type faucet, it is a good idea to have the water leading to that fixture turned off and the fixture opened so that it does not freeze
Do you have a list of home projects you’ve been wanting to do for a long time and now you have no idea where to start? Maybe you are someone who – due to lack of time, knowledge, or adequate tools, end up putting off home repairs or home improvements?
Even small tasks can seem daunting when they add up.
- Have furniture at home waiting in its box, still not assembled?
- Have your paintings been on the floor for years, instead of decorating the walls?
- Have you gotten used to the drip drip drip of that leaky faucet?

A deck is the perfect extension of your home. As an outdoor extension of your living space, it allows you to enjoy the outdoors – right outside your door! Whether you are planning on using this added space to entertain, garden, or relax with the family, our deck contractor team at Litman Construction is available to build the perfect deck to make memories for years to come.
WE WORK WITH YOU
Building or remodeling a deck is no easy task, so we are happy to work with you to create the deck plan best suited for your home, space, and lifestyle. Your deck design can be as simple as a rectangular shape, or as complex as designing multiple levels and creating curves and other decorative shapes. Our team follows a detailed deck building process – here is how we do it.
Things to consider before we start:
LOCATION OF DECK
When looking at your future decking options and location, you must consider the wood type and materials you are using. For example, if the location of your deck gets full sun exposure, you will want to look at wood decking made of mahogany, redwood, or cedar. A shady spot might be better for composite decking board.
Different deck materials also have differing attributes. Staining or sealing a deck can slow the changing of wood over time, but can require more effort, whereas composite decking is great for those who prefer less maintenance.
Depending on location, you may want to cover your deck. For a Duluth Area remodeling project, we can build a pergola or install a folding awning system. These systems allow you to control sun exposure or help shield you from the rain, also allowing you to add furniture and create a great outdoor space – perhaps to include a relaxation area and dining table. We can see it now.
Plant your favorite flowers
Do you consider yourself a green thumb and planning on creating a garden on your new deck? Hydroponic planters and raised beds are easy to manage and are a beautiful addition to any deck. In Minnesota, decks are typically considered seasonal spaces, usable only for the summer and fall. However, adding a three or four season porch allows you to enjoy the scenery all year around.
OUR DECK BUILDING PROCESS:
1) Initial Consultation
Our deck construction process starts with an initial consultation onsite and discussion of type of deck build, size, type of decking material and function of your deck.
2) You’ll Receive an Estimate
Once we discuss the design and functionality of your deck with you, we will send you an estimate. As specific material procurement may take some time, we will quote the closest estimate of your project. Depending on materials, we may need to set an allowance unless we have chosen a predetermined manufacturer and type of decking/rail.
3) Scheduling Your Project
After you agree on the estimate, we will schedule your project.
A permit may be necessary for deck construction. Depending on the type of deck, it may be necessary to have engineered plans drawn up to gain jurisdiction approval from the building inspection office. Some jurisdictions may require a survey of the property lines depending on proximity to those boundaries.
4) We Procure your Deck materials
After this, we make the final decision on the choice of decking material and rail material. Drilling and boring may be required prior to working. As the owner, you will locate all private utility lines (Sewer, Water, buried private electrical etc.). Gas, Electrical and Phone can be located by the local utilities.
5) We Start Building Your Deck!
Decks can take a few days to multiple weeks depending on the complexity. Upon completion of your new deck, we will do a final cleaning of the work area.
The advantage of hiring an expert in deck construction is that you don’t have to worry about construction and material procurement yourself – and you can count on professional results. Let us know your ideas regarding the design and leave the conception to the craftsman!

If you are thinking about a bathroom remodeling project, you probably have many questions in mind.
- What does a bathroom remodel process involve?
- How much does it cost?
- Which professionals and craftsmen should I hire?
- How to choose them?
We will answer all these questions for you and more. Let’s start with how here at Litman Construction, a residential and commercial remodel company in Duluth, Minnesota, we carefully tailor and personalize every client’s bathroom remodel process.
Initial Consultation and Estimate
The time and cost for a bathroom renovation is different for every home. The scope and complexity of the design, the current condition of your space, and the quality and costs of the materials you choose are all contributing factors. We provide an initial consultation to give you a detailed explanation of what will be involved.
Project Design and Contract
Once you have seen and are happy with our estimate, we can send your contract to be signed and then schedule your home project.
The design process involves looking for ideas and trends to best fit your style. We will also work with an architect or interior designer to create plans. If there is structural work involved, we design accordingly. Working with you, we will prepare a final list of fixtures and finishes and order every item needed so that your project runs seamlessly.
BEST PRACTICES FOR BATHROOM REMODEL MATERIALS
Flooring
Bathroom floors must be made of material that is water resistant.
Paint
Selecting the right bathroom paint color is important. This is more of an aesthetic preference on your part but keep in mind that flat paints do not wash as well as paint with a higher sheen.
Sink
Bathroom sinks are a practical and aesthetic element of the room. Every bathroom is different, so you have to find a sink that can easily fit into the space and suits your needs.
Bath and Shower
Do you want a plastic insert? Or a full tile surround with Carrera marble? These decisions can drastically influence the cost of your remodel so try to think of what really matters and doesn’t matter to you.
Counters
Although they are generally fairly small, bathroom countertops get used a lot. There are natural and man-made materials available.
Decor
We all would decorate our bathroom according to our tastes. However, it is always a good idea to look at design trends especially if you’re thinking about selling in the near future.
Light Fixtures
You cannot ignore the importance of having good lighting in the bathroom, especially when you have a mirror in there. Lighting makes a world of difference.
Plumbing
If there is one thing a bathroom cannot work without, it would be plumbing. Using existing plumbing is always the best way to save money but sometimes with design changes it has to be moved. Make sure it’s the first thing you consider when planning a bathroom remodeling project.
Toilet
The toilet is probably the most important, but little valued part of the bathroom. There are different models that you can choose from. We can help make suggestions on this.
Ventilation
It’s important to ensure proper ventilation in the bathroom. This room has to withstand a lot of moisture. Constant moisture in unventilated bathrooms can cause molds and other bacterial build-ups.
KEY FEATURES OF A BATHROOM REMODEL
Function
The layout of your bathroom should be focused on the daily use patterns of your family.
Reliable
What could be more tiresome than having to replace materials too quickly? If your budget allows, opt for high quality materials, or at least try to find the materials that offer the best value for money.
How to Determine your Needs
A bathroom deserves attention to its layout and decor to create a welcoming and relaxing space.
Make a list of your criteria and see how these points could have an impact on the choices you will make later. Here are some important items to consider:
- The ease of cleaning
